Hardwire power to tablet. topic

So I have an old tablet that has a duff battery an needed to be plugged in to run, then because of this the USB socket has now snapped off. I have been thinking about soldering the wires of a srtipped usb cable to the pads for the usb socket. When I opened it up to look i saw how the battery connects to the board (just two wires off the battery and soldered to the board) and thought of soldering the wires straight onto there.

Have turned it on and it works, but just would like to know what peoples opinions on doing this, like is there a chance of it blowing up?? Should i disconnect the battery and just leave it hard wired??? Should i just try and solder it to the usb socket pads (dont think my skills and equipment will be up to that)??

I want to use the tablet to control a cluster of raspberry pi's so will want to have it plugged in and on all the time.

Cheers Iain
