LED notification light/kernel topic

I'm running the latest cm12 build 20150207 was wondering about the LED notification light being really low brightness read somewhere it is a problem with the kernel I'm new to modding and learning as I go if it is the kernel can I flash a new kernel to solve this and still keep my cm12 version and if so what one? I maybe totally wrong here so forgive me as I said still learning
