[Q] Verizon Note 2 stuck at red verizon boot screen. What to do? topic

Background story: This phone was bought off eBay, and seemed to work only for a moment to tell my girlfriend to insert her SIM card. Afterwards, it has booted and refuses to get past the red Verizon boot screen. Loading other stock ROMs doesn't seem to do the trick, and while I don't know the baseband version, only the I605VZWFND7(4.4.2) stock rom seems to give it the ability to get into recovery mode, show battery charge, get to the boot screen, etc.

Is there anything I should try before recommending that this get returned to the eBay seller?

Wiping/formatting /data (factory reset)
Wiping/formatting /cache
