Wifi battery usage topic

Hi, dumb question here and I know the answer is mostly dependent on several factors but I'm hoping for a simple answer. My phone goes through 2% battery overnight (8 hours) with everything turned off including Wi-Fi, Turning on Wi-Fi the phone goes through 2% per hour. I'm fairly certain this in not normal. I have had this problem since I install the ICS update back in 2012. Resetting the phone, installing new roms and disabling any and all features/settings have no effect. I discovered in Network Log that the kernel is using the network all the time. I tried blocking the kernel in Droidwall and AFWall+ but the kernel still has access to net. Below is a list of things I have tried which had no effect. I thought maybe flashing a kernel but since Slimkat, which I'm using now, has a custom kernel I doubt if that would fix the issue? If 2% per hour is normal then please let me know or please help me fix the issue if possible,

Fom the beginning
Put in new battery in case the old one is bad
Erased all files on internal storage
Installed recommended recovery is philz_touch_6.41.6-skyrocket.zip
Wiped Cache
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wiped Cache again
Installed Slimkat 4.4.4 and mini gapps then rebooted
Unmounted SD card
Did initial setup and went through the settings
Installed Greenify

App Data and People Details backup under Google account so they don't sync at all ever
Security Settings in Google settings
Disabled/Paused Account History in Google Settings
Disabled Phone Search settings in Google Settings
Removed Connected Apps from Google Settings

Settings Changed
Google Now/Search not installed
Wifi set to USA region
No widgets on homescreen
Using Slimkats simple and dark background
Display Timeout set to 1 minute
Display set to Low brightness (about 10% to 25%)
Only installed 5 apps: Wakelock Detector, Better Battery Stats, AFDroid+, Network Log, Greenify

I have since installed my all my apps believing this can’t be fixed or it’s normal but it was not like this when I got the phone and it had GB on it.
