[Q] entering Learning mode..Fanx kids tablets topic

Hello all,
this year sinterklaas brought tablets for my girls. They were, obviously, budget tablets as they're still young but i want them to learn sooner rather than later how a tablet works so they'll get interested in that technology and grow further as we develop new techniques. (my wife doesn't even know what a browser is for example, i want to avoid that at all cost)

the problem is that the software provided isn't an official android version but some chinese malware version wich i can't even use to set up a google account because "the connection isn't safe" according to google.
I want to root these tablets and install a custom childproof rom but i've got no idea where to begin and how to do it..Is there anybody here who can help me out with this? :o:confused:

Yesterday OTA T-MOB003 (NL) L 5.0.1 broke IR Learning and blaster topic

Bellow what I sent to HTC DEV but there was nothing really helpful back ( I did not of course expect to have a solution on the spot) other than me hopping they might have a look at the issue. Is anyone out there that uses the HTC OpenSense 4.4.4 IR API having same issue? The weird thing is that there TV APP is FINE.

Thanks

====TO HTCDEV===
Yesterday the Jan 28 we received L update on M8 for carrier ( I'm on T-MOBILE) thanks for that all is fine for me with it except Infrared: I develop an application using ConsumerIrManager and I use your HTC OpenSense 4.4.4 IR API. All was fine prior the update (both LEARNING and BLASTING fine). Before integrating the call to your API I've built your sample (HTCConsumerIR) and all was OK on KIKAT 4.4.4 (SW was 3.29 for what I recall ). After the UPDATE T-MOB003 (NL) L 5.0.1 (SW 4.19.1142) both sample and APP no longer can blast or learn IR ( this without error or exception). So debugging I get to there in your SDK: Class ConsumerIrManagerBase Log.w(TAG, "learn IR command is not av Log.w(TAG, "start() is not available on this device"); NOW the odd things is that your TV APP is just fine both blasting/learning so it seems to me either you use another JAR version of HTCIR.jar or you don't use the public SDK in your TV app. Was that issue reported, will there be an update for the the HTC IR SDK ?
