Questions about stock rom topic

Let me first say hello I am new to this forum. I am new to rooting/flashing when it comes to androids. I have a Verizon Motorola Droid Razr HD XT926 which I am trying to fix for a friend. It is stuck on the red eye and will not boot. I understand I will need to re-flash the software, and I understand the steps I need to take to re-flash using RSD lite. My problem is I cannot find a download for the stock rom, nor am I 100% sure which one I need. My friend has no interest in rooting, so I just need it back to stock. I do not know what software version is currently on the phone. Is there a way to find out with the phone not booting? Or does this even matter? Can I just flash the latest official version? And that is my main problem, which version to use, and where to find the download for it. I have searched around for some time and cannot find a definite answer on this.
