Hi,

it's very simple.

1) decompile framework-res.apk

2) Open the \ res \ values \ bools.xml there were:

<bool name="config_wifi_dual_band_support">false</bool>
and change to:
<bool name="config_wifi_dual_band_support">true</bool>

[Q] Frequency Bands - Padfone S or Unlocked Padfone X? topic

I can't locate any information about the supported frequency bands of the Asus Padfone X, but I did find the Asus Padfone S.

TL;DR - Does anyone know the supported frequencies for Asus Padfone X?
...
Asus Padfone S:

Quote:

3G WCDMA:
900/1900/2100

4G FDD-LTE:
700/800/900/1800/1900/2100/2600*

This list seems a bit incomplete - no 2G standard?

Since I am a T-Mobile customer, I need a phone that supports these:

Quote:

2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/1900

3G WCDMA/UMTS/HSPA+:
850 (CLR), 1900 (PCS), 1700/2100 (AWS)

4G FDD LTE:
700 (Block A), 1900 (PCS), 1700/2100 (AWS)

Since Asus Padfone S does not support 1700, if I purchase Padfone S then I will have to downgrade from AWS to PCS. The problem this has is that there are no PCS LTE towers in my area since it's a metro area that fully supports AWS. I am in a refarmed area that has HSPA+ on the 1900 band now, so I could at least get that, but if the Asus Padfone X supports 1700 then I'd rather buy one of those and unlock it.

Wi-Fi frequency band stuck on automatic topic

Greetings!
I've recently factory reset my Nvidia Shield Tablet after several days of random hard locking since the 2.1 OTA update. Good news is the hard locking issue has yet to show up again. The bad news is that the Wi-Fi frequency band is stuck on automatic.

I'm able to manually connect to 5ghz and 2.4ghz wifi networks but I can't seem to get android to filter the results.

I've tried going into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik/art cache. I've also tried deleting the /data/misc/wifi and /data/misc/dhcp which has solve previous wifi issues for me in other devices but not this one.

The tablet is currently rooted, with an unlocked bootloader with CWM flashed as recovery.

Given the trade off between random hard locks and the wifi glitch, I can live with the wifi glitch if no one knows how to resolve this.
