[Q] How to root a HP Slate 21 Pro? topic

Hello Guys

I just bought a HP Slate 21 Pro on GROUPON. I would like to root it . The device is being shipped to me as I type this.

Found some instructions on the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2709467

His first step is
"1. Unlock bootloader (fastboot oem unlock) This will wipe all your data, as far as I know."

Is this a standard procedure for all Android 4.3 devices or something? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
