Unable to send SMS using default messaging app topic

As the title says, I'm unable to send any text messages using the default messaging app on moto E. I have my phone rooted. Messaging is a system application. I'm able to recieve messages though. If I change the default messaging app to some other app like hangouts, everything works. I have tried making a backup of the messaging app, uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing works. Also cleared data. When I send a message, it's stuck at "sending...". Check screenshot.

Can't get Messaging app notifications to stop topic

I'm running 4.4.2. No matter what I do, I can't get my the stock messaging app to stop sending me notifications. I set my default SMS app to Go SMS Pro, but I still get notifications on my lock screen. I tried enabling it and turning off notifications, but I still get a notification on my lock screen.

What am I missing?

[App Request] Import Google Voice Texts to Stock Messaging topic

There are many apps that will allow you to export/import text messages from the base messaging storage, but there doesn't seem to be one that gets anything from google voice. Regardless of whether I'm texting from my phone or from the voice app on my phone or computer, everything (sms) is in voice. Thanks for reading.
