[Q] New FireTV Stick, Won't Start topic

I have an Amazon Fire TV stick. I plugged it into the HDMI port. I tried using the port on the TV and the port on the Set Top Box. On both of them I go to the remote, I press TV Input at the bottom of the remote, by repeatedly pressing TV Input I am able to get to HDMI 1 and HDMI 2. But I'm unable to select either HDMI port. I tried pushing OK/Enter and TV Input again. It doesn't work. How do I fix this?

I have VZ P265v2 RC
and Motorola QIP7232 set top box

The power is fine.

When I have the TV monitor plugged into the SetTopBox, On the screen I see "Verizon press menu to watch FIOS TV ..."

I press "TV Input" on the remote and I see Tuner, Composite, HDMI1, HDMI2, VGA, VGA Component

By repeatedly pressing "TV Input" I navigate to the option I want (Tuner, Composite, HDMI1, HDMI2, VGA, VGA Component)

If I just stay at HDMI1 or HDMI2 it doesn't seem to select it, and the FireTV stick doesn't start. I have the stick plugged into the USB so the power should be fine. Is there a way for me to confirm that. There is no little LED or anything. I played with the FireTV remote, but got no response.

This also happens if I press Menu to go to FIOS TV and then press TV Input.

Then I unplugged the set top box from the TV (so it's a "dumb" monitor). Then I followed the instructions below. Still no success. I have a "no signal" message on the tv screen.

Instructions which didn't help, yet
1. Remove Fire TV Stick from TV HDMI Port, just make sure TV is off
2. Unplug power source from Fire TV
3. Wait 15 minutes
4. Turn on TV
5. Plug in power source to the Fire TV Stick then insert to prefer HDMI 1 or 2 or 3
6. Press any button on the Fire TV remote, wait 30 sec on each input until you see the picture on the screen.

Autostart apps on firetv boot - without root or llama topic

Hello,

I got a fire tv stick recently and quickly installed Kodi via adbFire, but like everyone else was looking for an easier way to access it.
I then found FiredTVLauncher, which was very nice, but I did not have an easy way to autostart that.

I found an app that allows to set one or more apps to start on boot, and it works just fine on fire tv, its called "AutoStart - No root". I installed it via aptoide and was able to use the regular firetv controller to set it up. I did not have to root or use llama, and it just works. I have it setup to start firedtv, but I suppose it could start kodi or anything else. I have rebooted the stick several times, and a few seconds after the regular amazon launcher is shown the firedtv launcher kicks in!

This is the app ""AutoStart - No root" (com.autostart), can't post urls yet but its in playstore and aptoide and others.

Good luck!

unable to resboot via commands firetv topic

Hi .. does anyone else have issues rebooting the firetv by using commands? I know I was able to do before as I'am rooted with CWM installed .. also using the pre-rooted rom just before the one that needs bootmenu ( 51.1.4.0_514006420+updated)... but for the life of me I cant get firetv to reboot by using adb commands or any app I could find.

When I use the reboot command it just stays there hung but firetv stays functional ... currently for example I just used adbfire to reboot and its still running. So only way I can reboot is by pulling the power or holding play/pause + select .. but that doesnt help me get into the recovery

[GUIDE]Change settings of FireTV via adb topic

As people constantly keep complaining about not being able to change the android settings db on the FireTV/Stick here's a way to do so. But be careful, I'm not responsible if you break things. Especially don't disable adb...
  1. adb connect FIRETV_IP_ADDRESS

  2. adb shell

  3. settings get global wifi_on

As you can see the settings binary is included, so you can use

Code:

"settings put [table] [parameter] [value]"

to manipulate the settings.db

Tables are
Click the links to see which parameters are available.

If you have more spare time than I have, want to play around with this and stumble upon anything useful in the settings db (e.g. enable other input methods than firetv standard,...) feel free to share in this thread.

Btw this should work on any 4.2+ device.

Again: I am not responsible if you brick your device!!!

Firetv remote not working topic

I have the FireTV box. I installed the wireless remote app for my android and it worked ok. Then I realized the remote itself isn't working at all. I tried unplugging the cord and rebooting. Nothing.

Any suggestions?

help my firetv stuck in boot loop topic

first timer here,
so I had my fire tv for a week it was rootable so I had it rooted and running on 51.1.4.1_514013920
fixed, for some reason i decide to install boot menu, so I could just update once the 51.1.4.2 comes out
and now it would not boot kernel. every time i try it just loops back I could still boot in to recovery
but i already have the rom removed from the device
I just wanna ask if there's anyway i could load the rom back into the firetv with recovery mode
and install it from there? Or could i remove the boot menu in anyway?

thank you so much for your help
