[Q] TWRP versions and compatability topic

Hi,
I notice many users still use TWRP 2.6.3.3 as apposed to the latest build which is often highlighted by several ROM providers.
Hypothetical question....would a nandroid backup created in a newer version say 2.8.4.0 be recognisable to an older version like 2.6?
Fairly confident it would work in reverse but wondered if the backup build process would affect a recovery if I reverted to an older version which was a better version for flashing certain ROMS?
I guess it could be an" if it aint broke dont fix or change it" scenario ,,but the loyalty to the older version seems fairly common and something I have considered downgrading to if it is more relaible?

[Q] How many SW versions do we have??? topic

Hello All;

I am a computer engineer, but still I am a little bit confused. This is very hard to understand differences between them :rolleyes:
How many software's and also versions do we have on these HTC M8's??? :confused::confused::confused:

Hboot Version, Radio Version, OS Version, Bootloader Version, Baseband Version,
Kernel Version, Build Number Version

May be so on... :D :mad: :confused:
Could someone help me about this, I wanted to be fully updated with my unlocked AT&T device in Europe?

On the other hand;

I am also getting different version numbers between getvar all and Viper One - About Menu, why?
I tried to update with "4.16.401.10-Firmware-noredtext.zip" it said successfull.
But in viper menu, I am still getting different reults???

Viper One Says:

[Q] Bootloader unlock and versions topic

I've read that the att version of this has a locked bootloader. I've also skimmed and read there are different versions of the bootloader for this phone as well.

My question is that I'm going to try to buy one off ebay but I want to make certain that I can root and install custom roms and kernels. I don't care about warranty info so thats no problem. However can you root on any bootloader or only the old one? If there is any info on this I'd to read about it. I just don't want to buy an updated phone and not be able to do anything with it like I did my optimus g pro which is not properly unlocked. Because if the bootloader effects this then I'll have to ask selllers what version it has and they likely won't know. I also read there are different modems and such with this. I just want to make sure i have total control over this phone unlike some that haven't been hacked thoroughly.:angel:

So if anyone wants to call me a noob and direct me towards a thread here I would gladly appreciate it.

Running multiple versions of a app/simulating screen prompting topic

Id like to run 2 versions of a app is this possible? Id love to do this is a unrooted scenario but if its not possible my phones can be rooted.

My second question is how easy/safe would it be to simulate a button press externally? Looking for creative ideas here I need to hit a prompt once a hour on my phone. I dont want to use internal apps because im pretty sure those will get noticed.

Thanks!
