[Q] Kindle Fire with CM11 Otter will not activate Gapps topic

I loaded CM11 snapshot from Nov 2014 from CyanoGenMod using TWRP. It loaded fine and booted fine. I then loaded Gapps for CM11 full version. The Gapps loaded but I could not sign into Google account to activate the Google Store. I also could not load into Google Account email. I have tried two additional Gapps packages, a micro and a small, with the same results. I do a factory reset before installing the Gapps.

I really only need Google Store, if I have that then I can load what I want, which isn't much. The first Gapps package said it was for 4.3, the second one said 4.4 and the third one 4.2. I would think all of these Gapps packages should work with my CM11 Otter 4.4 ROM.

I have searched for solutions but have not found much except to make sure I have the latest TWRP. I loaded TWRP 2.7.1 before I flashed my ROM.

Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thank you.

[Q] File Recovery of Bricked Kindle Fire 7" topic

I bricked my rooted Kindle into a bootloop, and would like to get to transfer files to my computer before unbricking it. I don't think I have any specific backup software installed (though have heard of firefirefire and twrp). My main concern is about file recovery, as I have found some guides for unbricking my Kindle, but any advice for that is still appreciated. I don't know a whole lot about this kind of stuff, so I really want to make sure I get things off safely. Thanks!

[Q] Kindle fire 7 (4th Gen) BootLoop / power button issue topic

Hi, I could use any help or advice you guys might have to offer, the problem (at first) seemed to be just a bootloop - I am able to get the device to boot by connecting the device to the computer then disconnecting and reconnecting the kindle battery ( usually works 1 in 7 times ) .. I have tried a factory reset through the device menu which completes without issues but once the power button is pressed (tapped or held) the device freezes and then starts the bootloop again. I have been able to use adb to get the device into the recovery menu but trying to recover this way starts the boot loop again, possibly because the power button has to be pressed to confirm the option.
edit: forgot to mention that when the power button is tapped it asks if I want to power off - it doesn't just turn the screen off (I'm not sure if this is normal or not)

I'm unsure what to do at this stage, so any advice would be gratefully welcome.

[Q] KF stuck at "Kindle Fire" screen, details inside, pls help? topic

So here's what happened.

About a year ago, I rooted my Kindle and flashed CM 10.1. Everything worked out great.

Fast forward to a few days ago, I thought it'd be cool to give the KF an update. Total mistake. I wanted to flash CM 11, but figured it'd be important to install the latest version of TWRP as well. Before I knew it, my Kindle Fire was bricked. In the process of updating TWRP, I downloaded and flashed the most recent img file (using Flashify), and after the device rebooted automatically, it wouldn't move past the silver/orange "Kindle Fire" screen. I've since tried a number of things, including powering the device on and off, and holding the volume up button to boot into TWRP, but nothing seems to work. I always end up getting stuck at the same screen.

I've also tried using Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility, but I get a "device not found" message. My computer makes a noise, as if to recognize the KF when it powers on, but within seconds, loses communication.

Am I screwed?

Kindle stuck on white triangle topic

When I press power on my 1st gen kindle, I get the "Kindle Fire" screen followed by a dimmer screen that has a white triangle.
Device is not recognised by PC, either Win 7 or Ubuntu.
Shorting the connection inside as per this thread doesn't work.
KFU doesn't work.
ADB can't connect in any mode.

I'm thinking I have a brick??
Device has stock ROM, recovery, etc, AFAIK it hasn't been modified.

Thanks in advance for any help, pointers, etc etc.

Goal is AOSP roms.

I've gotten at least 10 ADB usb drivers and found one works newest version. Able to send ADB commands.

[Q] KF stuck at "Kindle Fire" screen, details inside, pls help? topic

So here's what happened.

About a year ago, I rooted my Kindle and flashed the latest CM rom (at the time). Everything worked out great.

Fast forward to a few days ago, I thought it'd be cool to give the KF an update. Total mistake. I wanted to flash CM 11, but before that, I figured it'd be important to install the latest version of TWRP as well, since that was also outdated. I downloaded the most recent img file, flashed it using the Flashify app, and before I knew it, my Kindle Fire was bricked. When I try to power it up now, it gets stuck on the "Kindle Fire" screen. I've tried holding the volume up button to boot into TWRP, to no avail. I can turn the device off, but as soon as I turn it on again, I get the same results.

I've tried using the Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility, but I get a "device not found" message. My computer makes a noise, as if to recognize the KF when it powers on, but within seconds, loses contact.

Any advice?
