[Q] Black Or White topic

Hi guys, so I plan to buy the 16GB WiFi variant of tablet and was wondering if I should get black or white. The official Sony Store only sells the Black one and it 9 and comes with 24 month warranty. But only Kogan sells the white one but its 0 and with only 12 month warranty. Please help! The white one looks nice but the black one is cheaper:good::good:

Stuck at boot loop. White Amazon Logo topic

Hi guys,

I was in the final step (7) of this gude: http://www.aftvnews.com/start/
Which is installing the latest pre-rooted stock software, (version 51.1.4.1_514013920) After pushing the rom to /sdcard, I rebooted the device so that I could flash it via clockworkmod recovery, but I was not able to select the recovery option with my keyboard. So I decided to re-do the installation of Rbox's kernel boot menu. Now, I'm stuck at a boot loop with just the white Amazon logo showing up. Is my device bricked and is there a way to fix it?

[FIX]Repair White Screen, Bootloop, Soft Brick etc. the quick & dirty way topic

Most guides suggest reflashing stock rom for this, however that means you would have to re-root your device and also install a new recovery again. Any other data on your system will get lost as well.

I had a white screen problem with my SGA+ and according to a post about Indian and Chinese SGA+ phones, I needed to flash a European stock rom first before I was able to use certain roms (e.g. kk) at all. Because of various reasons Odin was not an option, so I had to use heimdall. With heimdall all partitions are flashed in sequence and you can choose which ones you want to flash. In other words, you can flash a partial stock without touching anything that would be flashed by your custom rom anyway.

Tested with a Chinese SGA+
This will flash all partitions that are not affected by custom roms and rooting.

Requirements:
heimdall --- (google for it. XDA's spam filter prevented me from posting the link, lol)
stock rom --- If your phone is an Indian or Chinese SGA+, choose an S7500XX rom. Mine was S7500XXNB1_S7500OXXNA1_XSK. Getting a relatively new rom is also not a bad idea.
zip, tar capable archive manager

Tutorial:
1. Unzip your stock rom.
2. Rename the xx.tar.md5 file to xx.tar.
3. Untar / extract the tar file.
4. Open a terminal and move to the extracted directory.
5. Put your SGA+ in download mode (turn your phone off and boot with Power+Volume down+Home pressed).
6. Connect your USB cable.
7. Check your partitions with heimdall (as root on Linux systems)

Code:

heimdall print-pit

This step should be optional, but it's always good to be on the safe side. Check if the partition names and image names correspond with the following table:

Code:

  partition    image
  HIDDEN      hidden.img.ext4
  APPSBL      appsbl
  OEMSBL      oemsbl
  QCSBL        qcsbl.mbn
  CFG_DATA    qcsblhd_cfgdata.mbn

8. Flash all five partitions with heimdall (as root on Linux systems)

Code:

heimdall flash --HIDDEN hidden.img.ext4 --APPSBL appsbl --OEMSBL oemsbl --QCSBL qcsbl.mbn --CFG_DATA qcsblhd_cfgdata.mbn

9. Re-flash your custom rom if necessary.

yellow tent screen .. white color is more yellowish topic

I have the note 3 n900 and i notice that the white color on the screen has an obvious yellow tint so i compare it with galaxy tab 2 10 inch and galaxy mega 5.8 inch ... and both devices shows the white color like a normal white not having this yellow tent on white color like my note 3 and the white color is more bright than my note 3 ... and i set the screen mod to dynamic mod cause its the least yellow tint of all other mods like standard or even adaptive mod.. so i don't know ... is it only my device or all note 3 devices are like that and do u compare its screen it with other samsung devicrs

Looking to trade my white 32gb Nexus 5 for Note 3 topic

I got this factory replacement from Google this past August. It has always had a tempered glass screen cover so the screen has not been touched by finger tips at all. Will include original box but I do not have the original charger.

Rooted running Cataclysm Jan 23 Stable build with Franco Kernel, I could unroot everything and revert back to Stock prior to trade.
If you are a Root Junkie like me, you'll love the Nexus 5 due to its vast support of development and endless tweaks with ROMs and Kernels.

Reason for me wanting to trade is simply because I want to have a phablet as oppose to buying a tablet for school. My majors involve a ton of reading so I figured this is the way to go. It truly sucks reading articles off a laptop or printing hundreds of pages on the weekly basis.

NO SCAMS!!

Dazzling white vs Titanium Bronze topic

hello folks!

So I'm about to receive the titanium bronze Samsung galaxy tab s 8.4 and will have 14 days to make an exchange. I went to the store the other day and had a comparison with the texture of Titanium bronze vs dazzling white. So I made a little scratch test with my finger nails on the demos and the white can barely see any scratches being made while the bronze can definitely see scratch marks made. Despite this I was wondering what other pros/cons for these back covers have? I'm most likely am going to have a skin protection for the front/back of the tablet because I want to protect any scratch marks and finger prints in case. Does anyone know of any good skin protection out there? Is ZAGG any good? I'm also looking for book cases that can make the tablet stand at a 45 degree, cover the front and back for extra protection. I welcome all feedbacks and recommendations

Blue to White housing swap, tips/thoughts/results topic

So I own a 32 ATT N6, I really wanted a white N6, but didn't want to shell out the 700 bucks for it up front, so just got the att. Once I found a middle housing for the white available on eBay, I had to give it a try. Just thought I'd share a few pictures, thoughts and my experience and tips about swapping them.

First the link to the silver housing.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Housing-Midd...item3a9eedce51

Took about 2 weeks or so for it to arrive, not terrible, but not amazon quick obviously. As far as I could tell, this is a real deal housing, looks good and other than the color, seemed to be identical to the stock blue.

A few things to notice,

The new housing came with a new qi charging coil.
Did NOT come with a sim tray (This was disappointing, I guess I shouldn't have assumed it came with it)
No camera ring flash
Power/Volume cable was not connected
No FCC marking on the bottom of the housing

So you will have to remove the "ring flash" from your current blue N6, or buy a new one, and you may have to attach the power/volume ribbon cable to the connector. There is a little flap you raise and then slide it in, simple, just wasn't expecting it. The camera ring flash popped out pretty easily, pretty straight forward.

The biggest "issues" I ran into where,

Removing the old QI coil was not easy, or I should say removing it and keeping it clean/nice looking was not easy. If you look at the way the housing is put together, I think you need to use the new QI coil. Maybe not, but I think you'd be asking for trouble if you try to pull off the old QI coil and reuse it.

And my biggest mistake, I got it all back together, powered it up, and ran through a small list of tests to make sure I had everything working. Thought I did, so closed it up completely. WELL, apparently the top, or earpiece speaker is attached to the old housing. The ifixit video I was watching made no reference to this, and I didn't notice it. It's super simple to swap, just pressure connection, but I over looked it. SO don't be like me and have to take it apart twice.

Results.

Got everything back together, the housing fit fine, no issues with fit or finish, everything is working, and I think it looks great.

Feel free to ask any questions, I'll try to answer them the best I can.

Thanks

Peace

Dan

Please check the attached video using MX Player and other players (e.g. VLC on Linux)
I created the video from Japanese TV animation using following command. (Note: most of arguments are not necessary to reproduce)
$ ffmpeg -i japanese_anime.ts -ss 3.5 -t 1 -filter:v crop=32:16:560:190 -vcodec libx264 -an -crf 18 sample.mp4
libx264 is built with --bit-depth=10 configuration.
I tested libx265 with 10 bit depth configuration, and the output file also has a same problem.
I created this bug report with Nexus 7 (2013). I tested Nexus 5 and Galaxy S4 and they are also reproducible.

Encoder environment is here.
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- libx264 snapshot of 2014-11-29
- libx265 1.4+433 2015-01-26
- ffmpeg 2.5.2

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download the attached sample video file.
2. Play it on MX Player on Android with S/W decoder.

Kindle stuck on white triangle topic

When I press power on my 1st gen kindle, I get the "Kindle Fire" screen followed by a dimmer screen that has a white triangle.
Device is not recognised by PC, either Win 7 or Ubuntu.
Shorting the connection inside as per this thread doesn't work.
KFU doesn't work.
ADB can't connect in any mode.

I'm thinking I have a brick??
Device has stock ROM, recovery, etc, AFAIK it hasn't been modified.

Thanks in advance for any help, pointers, etc etc.
