[Q] Phone Stuck On Setup Screen; Tried Resetting & Cache Wipe topic

I just used Kies to come out of a horribly persistent bootloop. When I turn it on, though, it stays at the setup screen. Where you're asked to select your language and all that.

I can rotate the screen for a couple of seconds, and/or use my rocker to adjust the volume and see it on the screen, and can see some messages from my carrier, but can't select anything. Then it freezes completely, in whatever orientation and with the volume bar.

I've taken the battery out and put it back in, factory reset and deleted cache. It still turns on and gets stuck. I don't know what to do.

I've found this on Youtube and it was used for another tablet. Apparently , it installs Windows 8 on an Android tablet and someone could back up the Android partition in case said person wanted to get back to Android.

[Q] Bootloop after flashing stock ROM via Odin. I think I've tried everything. topic

The Wifi on my phone wasn't turning on, even after factory reset, so I reflashed stock ROM via Odin (v3.07)
I got stuck in a bootloop, and after factory reset via the stock recovery + wipe of cache partition, it was still stuck.
I then re-flashed the stock ROM. Still stuck.
Tried using Kies 3, with the firmware upgrade and installation tab. Said something about not supporting my phone when I was prompted to plug it in. (SM-G355H; Samsung Galaxy Core II Duos)
I then found an unofficial version of CWM v6 for my phone (there's no official support), and quickly flashed that (via Odin 3.09; which is what I use from this point on), forgetting that my phone was no longer rooted. I wiped davlik cache and data. Still stuck. Then I rooted my phone. Stuck.
Then I reflashed stock ROM (this time, I downloaded from another website) (to test my luck, I tried seeing if simply a factory reset and cache wipe would work. It did not) rooted my phone, and flashed CWM. Wiped davlik cache. Still stuck.

By the way, when I wipe davlik cache it says:
Warning: no file_contexts
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Davlik Cache wiped.

Any ideas on what to do now? I can't send it to a manufacturer / repair store where I live. I'm thinking maybe I should untick Auto Reboot and/or F. Reset Time when flashing, use an earlier version of Odin or the ROM itself, or maybe there is something I can do with ADB? I'm not very familiar with it, but I'm more than willing to learn. I just need some direction...

[Q] Nook HD+ won't turn on, tried everything topic

I was using my Nook HD+, when the screen suddenly showed lines all across it and froze. I had to push down the power button for 8 seconds to shut it down. Then could not turn it on. Tried all possible combinations, power, power+n, power+n+volume up keys for 5 seconds and for 30 seconds each time. Still not turning on. I tried plugging it in (although it had about 40% charge left before the screen froze) and noticed that the charging indicator glows green. If I push down the power button for 8 seconds, the light goes off, but if i press the button again, it comes back on. I've tried all the methods I saw on internet, except for draining the battery because the post suggested keeping it in a fridge, which I'm hesitant and also not in a position to do. Please help guys. I'm at a total loss.

Has anybody tried Xperia S's water resistance topic

I know that it isn't a waterproof or water resistant phone, but my Xperia S has contacted a little water (I used it in rain, I put it in my wet pocket on the beach and I used it with wet hands (it works better with wet hands than my Z2)) and it has no problems. So please post the result if your Xperia S has contacted water

[Q] GPS will not lock on - tried different roms and stock, topic

Hi all, pretty much at the end of the line trying to fix this.
I bought the phone at the end of November, and immediately rooted it, S-OFF etc. The first ROM I tried was Android Revolution HD, and everything worked fine, except for the GPS. It enables, and using an app like GPS Test says I can see 27 satellites or whatever depending where I am. However, it just won't get a fix and lock on. Using Google Maps, it just says 'waiting for location', but never locks on.

So, I recently tried the ViperRom (android 4.4.4), but same issue.
So, I thought I'd put everything back to stock. I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235, and all the flags in the bootloader look as they should. Stock ROM also.
Still no luck.

So I tried converting it to a Google Play Edition running Lollipop 5.01, using this thread and the links graffixnyc provided.
Again, everything works, but the same GPS problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions..? I can't think of anything else to do :(

Tried Kies Recovery - Firmware error! topic

I have read a ton of the (un-brick) post on the forums, but they are all rooted phones, and the problem is usually because people tried to install the wrong ROM, but this phone is not rooted.
After OTA update, the phone was fine for a while (wife's). Then is started to reboot randomly. Did factory reset, and still had the same problem.
So I picked up an S5 for my wife and put her S3 in a box. Yesterday i tried to fix the S3 with Kies, tried firmware recovery, failed (Firmware upgrade encountered an issue).
Can get to download mode but that is it. Tried Odin, back to stock file (fail auth), so im guessing because i was trying to flash older ROM, looked for new (KK) ROMs but they are not Odin friendly, then read something about bootloader and 4.4.2 will not work, so i gave up after that.
Kies, emergency recovery will not work, fails every time, so what are my options?

I guess some OUYA users tried it for games that demanded more memory, but I'm not a OUYA user.
You can probably chalk this up to boredom, but I'm intrigued by the RAM Expander app by ROEHSOFT.
So I'm wondering if anyone's tried it with AFTV? And since I haven't read about it in these forums at all I'm guessing it's either incompatible or useless, since aftv comes with 2 gb and the app says "up to 2.5 gb"
Basically I'm just curious. I've heard it could put unnecessary strain on your device. Of course if it is safe I don't see the harm in using it. I'm just not certain it'll make a noticeable difference...and it is a bit costly but they offer a trial (I think.)

I've rooted my HTC evo, and my note and note 3. I've since switched to Verizon where I hear root is probably a Longshot. At the same time my companies new email program won't work with rooted phones, so I may not be rooting my note edge anyway. I think I'm ok with that with 1 exception, the dpi. I hate having such a huge screen taken up by just huge icons. I saw this link saying it's possible to edit dpi on the note 4 without root. Will it work on the edge?

As the thread title says i am now extremely sick and fedup of coding stuff, and at smartphones in general tbh!! :(
As ive spent 12hours straight now (11pm t 11am) trying to upgrade my LG gt540 from 2.1 to 2.3.7


*Ive managed to ungrade it to 2.3.3

*Ive managed to enable fastboot mode on the phone, and am able to put the phone into fastboot.

*Ive downloaded SwiftDroid_v2.0_ASIS_fastboot zip folder.



That swiftdroid folder has 4 things in it, i copy and pasted them all into folder- OS (C:) / Android.

However those 4 things are the ONLY things in that folder.


I managed to find and download a copy of 'fastboot.exe' and of 'AdbWinApi.dll',
and i put both of them inside that same folder.



I then put my phone into fastboot mode, and plug it into the computer through usb.
However the 'driver' which it uses is 'ADB USB Modem Phone'.
I dont think that this is actually detecting the phone properly, however i have no idea how to make it use the correct driver.

Ive gone to device manager and tried to make it search for updated drivers, but that adb usd modem' one is the one which keeps getting installed. :S



I open CMD, type in CD android (cant remember exact wording, but i copied the youtube tutorial).

Next line said android, i tried to type in Fastboot.exe -w


But it just keeps on saying 'waiting for device'.



I literally have not got a bloody clue what else i can try or do to fix this tbh!! :'(

But so if anyone can help me (in noob step by step language) fix this i would be extremely grateful.
