[Q] How to stop dim before power off? topic

Anyone know if it is possible to stop the screen dimming just before it powers off? after a few recent ROM flashes it flickers when dim.

Note: this is nothing to do with auto brightness / screen timeout / Airview / Hardware fault or any settings that I can find.

I appears to be a system default that cannot be changed.

I am hoping that something in Build.prop or whatever can be altered, to either remove the dim completely or have the dim not go as low.

Black Screen before Flashtool topic

Hi i just follow the steps
1. Download and install Flashtool on your PC
2. Download the firmware you need (from the list below) and move the .ftf file into the directory C:/Flashtool/firmwares
3. Open Flashtool, click on the lightning symbol ("flash device"), select "Flashmode" and click on "OK"
4. Select the .ftf file of what you downloaded and click on "Flash"
5. Wait for a window to pop up (it may take a few seconds/minutes, just be patient)
6. Now turn off your phone and connect the usb cable to it
7. Push the volume-down button, keep pushing and connect the other end of the usb cable to your PC
8. Once the flashing process has started, you can release the volume button
9. NEVER disconnect the USB cable until it's finished!

[Q] Photos not visible in USB > MTP that was visible before. topic

When i first got my One Plus One, I was able to connect it directly and all my photos were visible in the path
Computer\One Plus One\Internal storage\DCIM\Camera

Now when i connect my Phone via USB, I go to DCIM and then it takes a Long long time to refresh and at the end, i see nothing.
Just a Folder called Local Disk and the Windows explorer keeps working (I see the green progress on the address bar)

So today I discovered that if I change the USB settings from MTP to PTP, i get the Camera Photos but nothing else.

Question :-
- Why is this behavioral change ?
- Is this expected ?
- Any way to make One plus one File Transfer Faster ?

How long will the internal battery itself last before it needs replaced? topic

I see a lot of threads about how is the battery life, but I want to know how long the life of the battery would be expected to be? This is my first phone that's had a non user replaceable battery and it made me wonder how long this battery will last me and continue to hold a solid charge?

I know there are variables, and my variable is I only charge it once a day at night on a Qi charger (I know i've read the heat can effect the battery), but surely its the same or less heat than the turbo charger produces I'd think.

What are some realistic life spans on these batteries based on perhaps a moto x history maybe since its similar? It doesnt seem the battery is readily available to purchase on ebay or amazon since the device is still new. When the time comes I'll replace it myself, just wondered of any comments you all may have from experience on similar devices?

Thanks!

[Q] Need to recover data before wipe (bootloop) topic

nexus 5
android 4.4.2
bootloader version: HHZ11K
Secure boot: enabled
unlocked
rooted
encrypted (i have set a pattern to unlock)
TWRP 2.6.3.4
Xposed module (not sure which version or if it is relevant at all)
xprivacy (not sure which version or if it is relevant at all)

suddenly, while i was surfing twitter, the phone restarted and attempted to install an update (not sure if it was 4.4.3 or Lollipop).

The phone went into bootloop.

My concern here , for now, is not how to fix it. I just need to retrieve my data (contacts, pics, calendar,...).

I held the power button and volume down to load into bootloader. from there i started TWRP. I was greeted with "please enter your password". I entered my pattern following the below arrangement

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

after several attempts which always ended with "Password failed. Please try again" i hit "cancel". This took me to the main TWRP screen.

I was worried about my data so i tried to copy everything to my pc through "adb pull sdcard/ C:\test" through terminal but i only got two folders namely "sys" and "tmp" but none of my personal data

In TWRP i touched "mount" to find the following..
"Select Partition to Mount:"
[ ] System
[ ] Cache
[ ] Persist
[ ] firmware
[ ] USB-OTG

below them there is a line that says "Storage: Internal Storage (0 MB)"

below that it says "Decrypt Data". If i touch it, it asks to enter my password. Again, i enter my password and it says password failed.

The log has this:
Updating Partition details...
E:Unable to mount ' /cache'
E:Unable to mount ' /persist'
E:Unable to mount storage
E:Unable to mount ' /cache'
E:Unable to mount ' /cache'
E:Failed to decrypt data.

I think that i need to update TWRP to 2.8.2.0 at least in order to decrypt my data as previous versions don't support decryption and/or pattern passwords. Am i right?

if so, how can i update TWRP to the latest version ?

I tried flashing 2.8.4.0 through fastboot with no luck. I have tried the following during the flashing process:
1) flashed it and then tried starting TWRP immediately.
2) flashed it and then restarted bootloader and then tried starting TWRP
3) flashed it and then started system, which took me into bootloop, shutdown phone
and restart into bootloader then tried starting TWRP.

No matter what i do it always goes back to 2.6.3.4 :crying:

I tried to update it from within TWRP. I pushed TWRP 2.8.4.0 which was in zip format (jjd-openrecovery-twrp-2.8.4.0-hammerhead.zip which i took from this thread ) to the main directory "/". Then inside TWRP i went to install, choose the zip file, swiped right to confirm flash to only get the following:

at the top it says "Zip install complete"
then in like a feedback window this is written:

E : Mount : unable to find partition for patch '/jj
error flashing zip 'jjd-openrecovery-twrp-2.8.
updating partition details...
E:Unable to mount ' /cache'
E:Unable to mount ' /persist'
E:Unable to mount storage

finally at the bottom it says Failed (in red)

no need to say that it is still stuck on 2.6.3.4

Am i heading in the right direction ? if yes how can i update TWRP?
If not, Is there any other way to retrieve my data ?
Is it possible to fix this thing with out a wipe and keep my data intact?

Help plz

moto xoom, help me before i have no hair left. topic

Hello all i have a problem and im hoping that someone has some answers for me. First off im new to rooting and i used my old motorola xoom for a test subject. the specs are moto xoom-android verison is 4.1.2- kernal version is 2.6.39.4-g4e32b94, and the build number is jz054k, i am also using windows 8.1 on my pc if that makes a difference, if there is any other info you need please let me know.
The problem is this, i used a root instuctional vid off of you tube, said that it was for any type of xoom, I followed this guide and went through the whole process like butter. Everything booted back up and it looked diff as far as the way the apps handled and i was pleased to see that superuser ( the little android pirate with crossbones logo) had been added to my device. I then went to the play store and installed root checker and ran it, outcome was not good, i had not gained root acess to my xoom. i then thought i would just try and download a cheat engine for games and when i tried to run it i was denied saying that i must gain root acess to my device before using. i then rebooted and reinstalled zip file from boot menu again, still no success. i also went into boot menu again and clicked on permissions and let it run and then rebooted xoom and still no change. i also installed CWM superuser, I got it installed to my xoom sd and internal memory and then went back to reboot menu on xoom and ran it as it asked, im not sure if i done it correctly because in the post it said to run a recovery and im not sure on what that is. When i open up the superuser that is on my tablet, there are no apps or log info, when i got to settings and try to update superuser crashes everytime. So....if anyone can help i would appreciate it so much. Thank You.

[Q] 1:1 backup before flashing topic

Hello everyone,
I'm going to buy a new S4 Mini, by signing a contract with H3G, so I'm probably getting a heavily branded phone. I would like to flash as soon as possible a custom rom, maybe CM12, but still I would like not to lose my hardware warranty.
Is there a way to make a 1:1 backup of all the software, firmware included? On linux I'd put something like this in a terminal:

Code:

dd if=/ of=backup.img

Is there a similar procedure to follow on an android phone? What I want to get in the end is a backup that, if restored, can fool my phone operator into thinking I never messed with the software (hence, not voiding the hw warranty).

Thanks in advance.
