WiFi Modem in my Galaxy S2 I9100 (India) died. Unable to flash with ODIN. topic

I had installed the CyanogenMod 10.3 Stable build on my Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 and it worked fine for a few months, and suddenly one fine day, the WiFi button in the Settings stopped starting the WiFi modem inside the phone, and hence the WiFi networks in the area don't even get listed. So if the button next to WiFi says OFF, I tap on it to start the WIFI and it switches to ON, the blank area below it says, "Turning Wi-Fi on", and after a few seconds, the switch goes back to OFF. That is all that happens. My cousin told me to go back to stock ROM so I got the stock ROM off of SamMobile.com. I got KIES as well as ODIN. I installed KIES and started it, and connected the phone with the USB cable in the USB port and not the hub. The phone never gets detected in KIES. Even when I go into the Download Mode (by booting with Home + Vol Down + Power), ODIN doesn't recognize the device at all. I've heard of a way to fix this by pressing *#7284# in the Dialer and getting options to set the UART radio button to MODEM, but all I get is "Invalid MMI Code".

I don't quite know what my options are now. It would be great to just go back to the stock ROM and get the WIFI to start and to detect networks in the range. Thanks !

[D855] [Modem] [V20h] Flashable Zip! topic

Hey guys!
I've downloaded a V20h ROM, extracted some parts of it and put it in a flashable ZIP!

Includes
  • Modem.img

  • rpm.img

  • tz.img

Together these parts are the radio of your phone which controls wifi, bluetooth, GPS, etc.

Compatibility
  • As far as I know EVERY ROM which is based on Android Lollipop (5.0+)

  • Only for D855

Why should I flash?
Because the radio was updated by LG in V20h and I think updates are always a good thing.

Responsibility
I am not responsible for any damage to your device. You do everything at your own risk. Do backups. Always.

Installation
  1. Do a Modem Backup with this modified TWRP version.
If you don't want to download the modified Version:

Open a terminal emulator/ use in adb shell: Execute the folowing:

    Code:

    su
    dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem of=/sdcard/modem.img
    dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/rpm of=/sdcard/rpm.img
    dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/tz of=/sdcard/tz.img
    exit

You will find three images on your /sdcard/ folder. Save them good if anything goes wrong.

  2. Download ZIP and copy to your sdcard

  3. Flash ZIP in recovery

  4. Reboot and enjoy!

AndroidFileHost is coming in the next hour!

Thank you!

[REF] [RADIO] YU Yureka Modem Collection topic

This is a list of radios for the YU Yureka (tomato). With the new OTA release, some people may have better signals with the old radio or want to tinker with the new one so here is a list that will be updated to allow users to switch to their preferred radio/modem.

Radios are independent of Android version, use the radio that provides you the best signal. It varies from user to user, there is no best radio/modem Why? Different carriers, different locations, and more. There are so many factors that play into cellular signal so just because a particular radio is the best for someone doesn't mean its the best for you. We can obtain a consensus on which radio performs the "best" for the largest % of users though.

How to Flash?
Simply flash the .zip below in your preferred recovery. If you prefer flashing via fastboot, extract the .bin file out of the .zip file and flash it by typing,

Code:

fastboot -i 0x1ebf  flash modem NON-HLOS.bin

links will be added soon..

Latest i9505 modem version for Philippines? topic

My current modem is XXUEMKE and have installed the GoldenFinger. But I'm having problems with connectivity, it's quite slow compared how other devices use it and when it gets to 15% battery and lower, it cannot connect to mobile data anymore. Yes, it has H+ on it but doesn't connect. When I turn off the mobile data, it cannot get any mobile data signal anymore especially when it's lower than 5%.

I have searched this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2192025 and found modem versions for i9505. What I'm asking is if these latest version works good for Philippines:
XXUGNG1
XXUGNG2
or
ZHUDMI1
ZHUFNB3

And are there any zip files to flash it via recovery?
TIA

MOTO X modem and nvitem reverse engineering topic

Hi guys, i'm so interest in the moto x hacking, now i want to find a way to unlock some frequencies of various model of moto x, just for fun XD. i studied the boards of the various moto x, and there are two main versions of the moto x one with only one qualcom wrt1605l modem and one with two chips, i compare the file NON-HLOS.bin of sprint and the retail-eu firmware no so much difference, so the big difference must be in fsg.mbn, after a simple analisys i discovered that inside the file there are some compressed file with a simple gzip (the gzip compressed files start with 1f 8b in exadecimal ) so i tried to take this file and uncompress it with winrar! WOW it works now i see the file uncompressed and the content is really interesting :)
open this files with a text editor.
If you want to help me, you can provide me a backup of nv items of your moto x (it's better than you don't post the file on the foum it's contain personal information such imei code).
sorry for my bad english!

[Q] Add custom Cell Modem Baseband? topic

[Q] NJ4 Safestrap Change modem topic

Hi guys,

I recently got my s4 and found out it had a locked bootloader, boo. After a lot of research I was able to get it to install safestrap with Imperium rom. I also had to change my modem and went through the steps to changing it like 3 times and ended up on NJ4. I was previously on MF3 and had great signal but after all these changes and going to NJ4, it seems my signal has gotten worse. I want to know if I can change my modem on the fly with a zip or something faster through safestrap or do I have to go through all the odin steps again in order to change? Its a lot of damn work and very time consuming, so I thought I would ask before doing. I do not think I can even go back to MF3, right? I followed these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...oting-t2926642

Thanks for any help,

Jose

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo N7505 Official Modem List topic

Hi Guys,
I thought of creating an official Modem list for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo N7505 Modems
I will be adding all the modems available in Modem.bin .

What is a modem?

Modem/Radio/Baseband is all the same thing and can be seen by going to Settings - About device - Baseband version. It's basically a driver which receives and sends Mobile Network signals as well as handling switching between GPRS, 3G, HSDPA etc....... (but not WiFi connection, that and switchover between Mobile Network and WiFi is handled by the kernel). Reasoning as to why Modem has no influence on WiFi can be found in this post by Entropy

Why?

Sometimes some custom Roms come with modems for various regions. If your modem is designed for different regions than yours then the chances are that it will sometime not work with optimal network performance.

You should look into changing your modem if you are experiencing the following :
Poor 3G speeds
Very fast battery drain whilst on 3G
Poor call reception

How to check:
Settings >> About device >> Baseband version

How to flash the Modem:

Open Odin and click on CP button the select Modem.bin file and make sure everything is unchecked just auto reboot then press start and your device will reboot with the new Modem :)

Modem List :

XSG

XEF I will add this soon
